Today became a cooking marathon, for no apparent reason. We started off with pancakes, and continued onto apple and blueberry crumble...some guests arrived, so a hungarian gualash went straight in the oven. Alas, there was not enough time, so we eded up having some mexican beans on rice. Again it rained. It was nice to hang out with Dina and her kids. An elevated chaos, but touching. Reassuring. I have been missing this humane factor. Kolya and Emma practiced writing by phonetically spelling out the words. It really quite extraordinary how fast they learn. A couple of weeks ago, Kolya could just about read out the sounds. Now he can lace them together into words. K-a-t. Cat! Simple words, but non the less. Absolutely magic really. There was alot of involvement with the lego today. We even ended up building a proper little house, which Kolya transformed into a space ship with wings and satellite ariels.
In the meantime, Alyosha has been getting on with his little chores. His now favourite game is to tuck himself into brother's bed. He sits right in the middle of the pillow, with a few shrieks, commands me to sit near him, pulls me down to lie under the covers and slides himself next to me. A bliss of a moment of quiet and we are off again, on our feet, on my head, legs in the air, lots of puffing and talking and back into the bed den. Fun.
Yesterday I got a quick demonstration of how easily Alyosha can now get out of his cot, so today is our second night in a row with the side down, so that he can get out if needs be. This morning, there was no mama talk, only the sound of little feet, making their way to the kitchen. Making some noise, making more noise, finally MA-MAA! And here we are. 6 am, wake up time.
