Hamster Reflex

Another very peculiar habit which seems to come and go is the 'hamster reflex', whereby Kolya becomes slightly obsessed with different types of objects which belong to him. An example is his helmet which he either calls hat or шлим, or Elmet. The idea is that the helmet has to accompany us on random outings, with or without the bike. On most occasions we don't take the bike, so Kolya proudly wears the helmet in his pushchair, which obviously makes me look like a complete psycho mum who is overly concerned with the possibility of a random buggy crash of some sort. Watch out for those lamp posts! They just come out of nowhere.

But the more interesting twist to the hamster syndrome is that all these special objects have to by all means possible sleep together in bed with Kolya. At this stage we are down to the following objects (which regularly have to be fished out as he falls asleep):
1 helmet,
1 rucksack,
two pairs of sunglasses,
1 toy dog,
1 toy cat.
K wheels the bike right next to the bed, in case he might fancy a night ride I suppose, and somehow manages to fall asleep and sleep till the morning, together with his army of things. Happy and sound. Strange little creatures babies are.
